The
Stone School in 1885
|
The Old Stone School in
Lanesboro, Massachusetts has been given a new life as a gallery and a bed and
breakfast.
The
building operated as a one-room schoolhouse from 1832-1950, but the history goes back to the revolutionary war, when the school's donor, Ephraim Bradley,
apparently stole the funds from the British army.
Located on the
scenic road to Mount Greylock, the Stone School is in the midst of recreational
and cultural resources of Berkshire County.
The restored
classroom now serves as a gallery featuring the fine
art photography of Cheryl Renée Sacks.
The artwork is displayed among the
old blackboards and the tall windows that look out to the horse and cow farms
and the mountain views.
The upstairs is a private and spacious studio
apartment, available as a bed and breakfast.
